Imagine you’re having dinner at a restaurant when all of a sudden the lights go out and the only thing you can see in the pitch black establishment is a loud red siren going off. Every couple seconds you hear what sounds like a bat slamming against metal and startled customers screaming. All you can do is sit there helplessly with your food getting cold in front of you and wait for the scare that might be coming your way next.
Alcatraz ER in Tokyo is a prison hospital-themed restaurant where customers are seated inside jail cells and waitresses are dressed as nurses. The siren stunt is a reenactment of a prison break and presumably involves a prisoner on the loose slamming a bat against the metallic jail cells.
The person talking over the intercom is speaking in Japanese and, as I mentioned before, the whole thing takes place in the dark, so you have to fill in the holes yourself.
The menu is made up of pricey dishes and drinks meant to entertain more so than satisfy. One comes with a sex toy while another comes inside a bloody mannequin head. I ordered a drink that came up with a tampon and a blood red omelette in the shape of a lung.
Just like mom used to make.
